Twenty-six-year-old actor Connor Storrie has secured his first Primetime Emmy nomination, earning a nod for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his turn as host on Saturday Night Live. The nomination, announced Wednesday, highlights a unique awards season trajectory for the breakout star of the hit drama Heated Rivalry.
An Unexpected Path to Recognition
While Storrie has achieved significant acclaim for his portrayal of Ilya Rozanov in the hockey-themed drama Heated Rivalry, that series was ineligible for Primetime Emmy consideration. According to Television Academy rules, productions financed entirely outside of the United States without a specific U.S.-foreign co-production structure do not qualify for the Primetime Emmys. Heated Rivalry, produced by Bell Media’s Crave, faced this limitation despite its massive critical success and its 16 wins at the 2026 Canadian Screen Awards.
Storrie’s recognition comes specifically from his February 28 appearance on Saturday Night Live. He was the sole host from the show’s 51st season to receive an individual nomination in the category, placing him alongside a competitive field of industry peers. His episode, which featured musical guests Mumford & Sons, included a memorable sketch featuring his Heated Rivalry co-star Hudson Williams.
Career Momentum
The Emmy nomination marks another major milestone in a rapid rise for the Texas-born actor. Since Heated Rivalry premiered, Storrie has become a fixture in both industry and cultural circles, including appearances at the 2026 Golden Globes and the Met Gala. His professional portfolio continues to expand, with an upcoming role in the A24 comedy Peaked and a multi-episode arc in Criminal Minds: Evolution.
While Heated Rivalry remains ineligible for the Primetime Emmys, industry observers note that the series could still compete at the International Emmys later this year. Meanwhile, production for the second season of the series is scheduled to begin this summer, with a target release date in spring 2027.
