Singapore’s Ministry of Health (MOH) has launched an investigation into Chia Yang Pong, the founder and CEO of LC Nursing Home, to determine if he failed to disclose past disciplinary actions during the facility’s licensing application process. The probe follows the ministry’s recent announcement that the 93-bed nursing home in Siglap will have its license revoked effective November 23, 2026, due to systemic failures in resident care and safety.

MOH confirmed on July 8, 2026, that Mr. Chia was struck off the Register of Medical Practitioners in 2004. A disciplinary committee from the Singapore Medical Council had found him guilty of 80 charges of professional misconduct related to the improper prescription of benzodiazepines at his former clinic chain, Grace Polyclinic. In addition to his removal from the medical register, he was censured and fined.

The ministry is currently examining whether this history was properly declared when the nursing home sought its license under the Healthcare Services Act 2020. While the ministry noted that the role of a key appointment holder in a nursing home does not strictly require medical practitioner status, the failure to disclose regulatory history remains a point of significant scrutiny.

The license revocation decision was finalized after audits in November 2025 and April 2026 revealed persistent breaches, including inadequate wound care and poor hygiene. MOH stated that the operator failed to provide a sufficient remediation plan, leaving the ministry with no choice but to terminate operations to safeguard resident welfare. Authorities are now coordinating the transfer of all 93 residents to alternative facilities.
