Filipino actor Daniel Padilla publicly confronted a media outlet after a published article described him as “delulu” or delusional following his recent social media commentary regarding public infrastructure and disaster response in the Philippines.
The controversy began after Padilla posted content to his Instagram Stories drawing attention to severe flooding caused by heavy rainfall in several regions of the country. His posts included material discussing potential improvements in national infrastructure and how flood control measures could operate if government projects were properly carried out.
Following his posts, a media report suggested that his civic-minded commentary might indicate an ambition to pursue a political career. The report further characterized the actor’s expectations as delusional, prompting Padilla to share a screenshot of the article online and deliver a direct response.
“I am simply doing my part as a Filipino for the Philippines,” Padilla stated in his social media response, strongly rejecting the publication’s characterization and criticizing the editorial stance taken against his post.
Padilla’s statement focused entirely on his intention to use his public platform to highlight nationwide disaster response challenges. He made no declaration regarding political office or plans to enter public administration. As of late August 2026, neither the news outlet nor the author of the report had issued a public response to the actor’s comments.
