Academic Milestone Amidst Personal Resilience

In a display of academic rigor and personal resilience, Dillon McTernan Jr., a resident of Pineville, Louisiana, has achieved a rare educational milestone by graduating from both high school and college within a 24-hour window. McTernan, who began pursuing college-level coursework during his early years of high school, earned his degree in pre-med biology from the Louisiana State University of Alexandria before completing his secondary education at Tioga High School the following day.

McTernan’s path was marked by unique personal challenges, including his legal emancipation at age 16. This decision followed the deployment of his father, Dillon McTernan Sr., a chaplain in the Louisiana Army National Guard. The emancipation allowed the younger McTernan to maintain stability at Camp Beauregard. Currently serving in the National Guard himself, McTernan aims to pursue a career as an anesthesiologist, with plans to apply to LSU New Orleans in 2027.
