Hasbro Targets Collectors with ‘X-Men ’97’ Roleplay Gear
Hasbro has announced the release of a 1:1 scale wearable Cyclops visor, inspired by the Marvel Studios series X-Men ’97. The product, part of the Marvel Legends Series, is designed to cater to adult collectors and fans of the long-running franchise. According to listings on EB Games Australia, the item is priced at AUD$129, with pre-orders scheduled to open on June 17, 2026.
The visor features integrated LED optic-blast effects with solid and flashing patterns, controlled by a side button that also adjusts the beam width. While the product lacks audio effects, it includes spring-loaded ear pieces and a swappable nose piece for fit. The set also comes with a display stand and a colored lens insert, positioning it as both a roleplay accessory and a shelf-display piece for enthusiasts aged 14 and up.
BAFTA Highlights Next Generation of Game Developers
In a separate development within the entertainment and technology sector, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has announced the finalists for its Young Game Designers (YGD) competition. The initiative serves as a bridge for young creators to enter the professional gaming industry.
This year’s shortlist features 51 finalists, including Matthew from Portishead, whose sci-fi action game ‘Overclocked’ focuses on momentum-based mechanics, and Rikka from Frome, the creator of the concept ‘Beyond the Horizon.’ Another finalist, Rowan Clarke from Stroud, introduced ‘Sprouts and Seedlings,’ a game centered on horticulture. The competition provides these finalists with professional mentorship and networking opportunities. The winners will be announced during a live-streamed final on the BAFTA YouTube channel this Thursday at 17:00 BST.
