HBO has announced that the fifth episode of House of the Dragon Season 3 will premiere on Sunday, July 19, at 9 p.m. ET. The episode will be available simultaneously for streaming on Max. This season, consisting of eight episodes in total, continues to chronicle the Targaryen civil war, known as the Dance of the Dragons.
As the series moves into the second half of the season, tensions remain high on both sides of the conflict. According to official show updates, the narrative is currently centered on the Riverlands, where Prince Aemond’s recent actions have left his whereabouts uncertain. On the opposing side, Ser Criston Cole is shifting tactics, moving away from direct battlefield confrontations toward guerrilla warfare as he attempts to regroup his depleted forces.
Political instability also remains a primary challenge for Rhaenyra Targaryen in King’s Landing. Beyond the external military threats, she faces internal pressure from Corlys Velaryon, whose relationship with the Queen has soured over her refusal to legitimize Addam and Alyn of Hull. This diplomatic rift poses a significant risk to the Blacks, given Corlys’s essential role in maintaining naval dominance.
Following the conclusion of Season 3, HBO has confirmed that the series will return for a fourth and final season, currently slated for a 2028 release.
