A Potential Shift to the West Coast
Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, who have established a prominent residence in South Florida since departing Washington, D.C., are reportedly exploring the real estate market on the opposite coast. According to reports from Page Six, the couple was recently seen touring high-end properties in Malibu, California, an enclave renowned for attracting global business leaders and entertainment figures.
The couple’s visit to the coastal city included a stop at the well-known Nobu Malibu, accompanied by a Secret Service detail. While a representative for the couple declined to comment on the nature of their visit or potential relocation plans, the sightings have fueled speculation regarding whether the couple intends to establish a new base in Southern California.
Deepening Family Ties to Los Angeles
The interest in the Malibu market coincides with an intensification of the Kushner family’s professional and personal connections to the Los Angeles area. Jared Kushner’s younger brother, Joshua Kushner, is currently part of an investment group acquiring the Los Angeles Lakers in a deal valued at $12.5 billion. While the transaction remains subject to NBA league approval, the move signals a significant expansion of the family’s footprint in the region.
Personal connections to Malibu are already well-established. In 2024, Joshua Kushner and his wife, Karlie Kloss, purchased the iconic “Wave House,” a landmark residence designed by architect Harry Gesner, for $29.5 million. A potential purchase by Ivanka and Jared in the same area would place the two families in close geographic proximity, mirroring the privacy-focused lifestyle they currently maintain in Florida.
Maintaining the ‘Billionaire Bunker’ Status
Currently, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner reside on Indian Creek Island in Florida, an ultra-exclusive community often referred to as the “Billionaire Bunker.” The location has provided the couple with the high level of privacy and security they have prioritized since moving away from the national capital. Malibu offers a similar profile for high-net-worth individuals, combining rigorous security standards with coastal seclusion.
Whether this search indicates a permanent relocation, the acquisition of a secondary residence, or simply an exploration of regional options remains unconfirmed. However, with the Lakers acquisition pending and existing family assets in the area, the couple is clearly positioning themselves to spend more time on the West Coast in the near future.
