Professional wrestling legends Jeff Hardy and Matt Hardy, collectively known as The Hardy Boyz, are engaged in ongoing negotiations with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) for potential future appearances throughout 2026. This development signals continued crossover opportunities for the iconic tag team, even as they reaffirm their primary commitment to TNA Wrestling.
Matt Hardy confirmed the discussions, indicating that fans can anticipate more ‘cool Hardy Boyz moments’ in WWE before the year concludes. The duo, who made history last October by simultaneously holding both the TNA and NXT Tag Team Championships, emphasized that their current focus remains firmly with TNA, a decision Matt Hardy described as deliberate, aiming to help grow the company during its new AMC era.
Hardy Boyz’ Dual Focus on TNA and WWE
The Hardy Boyz’ strategic approach involves leveraging their veteran status across multiple major promotions. While actively negotiating with WWE, Matt Hardy reiterated to Metro that TNA remains their priority. This commitment allows them to contribute to TNA’s growth while exploring opportunities for high-profile engagements with WWE, potentially offering fans the best of both worlds.
The tag team’s recent activities highlight their influence in the wrestling world. They are currently embroiled in a feud with The Righteous (Vincent and Dutch) in TNA, a rivalry that Matt Hardy noted the late Bray Wyatt (Windham Rotunda) would have appreciated, given Wyatt’s past advocacy for Vincent and Dutch to join WWE.
The Next Generation: Hardy Girlz in the Future?
Beyond their own in-ring careers, Jeff Hardy has openly discussed the possibility of his daughters carrying on the family legacy. He revealed that his eldest daughter has expressed interest in professional wrestling, asking about the prospect of entering the ring one day. ‘So it’s maybe not too late, and the Hardy Girlz may very well be a thing in the future!’ Jeff Hardy stated, hinting at a potential new generation of Hardys in the sport. Matt Hardy also noted his own children’s burgeoning interest, with one son considering a more character-driven role rather than direct in-ring competition.
Matt Hardy’s Past Concerns for Jeff’s High-Risk Style
The enduring bond between the Hardy brothers has always been a cornerstone of their careers. In an interview with Fightful, Matt Hardy reflected on moments of intense concern for Jeff during his brother’s famously high-risk maneuvers. He recalled a particularly anxious moment during the legendary TLC 2 match, where he positioned himself to watch Jeff execute a dangerous spot, experiencing immense relief upon its successful completion. These recollections underscore the inherent dangers of their wrestling style and the deep familial ties that have supported them throughout their careers.
Industry Commentary and Crossover Potential
The Hardy Boyz’ current status and negotiations have also drawn commentary from industry figures. WWE producer Shane ‘Hurricane’ Helms, for instance, indirectly confirmed the ongoing discussions, tweeting about Matt Hardy’s statements regarding the Hardy Boyz’ 2026 projects with WWE while helping TNA grow. Helms used this context to address online ‘tribalism’ among wrestling fans, emphasizing his professional relationships across promotions.
The ongoing negotiations for the Hardy Boyz to appear in WWE while remaining dedicated to TNA underscore a significant shift in professional wrestling, demonstrating increased collaboration and a more fluid talent landscape between major promotions.
