SINGAPORE (Azat TV) – Six people were rescued and three were hospitalized in the early hours of Thursday morning after a fire broke out at the Kovan Regency condominium in Singapore. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) responded to the blaze, which affected a unit on the 14th floor, and is currently investigating its cause.

The SCDF was alerted to the incident at 6 Kovan Rise, the address of the Kovan Regency condominium, at approximately 2:30 AM on Thursday, February 19. Upon arrival, firefighters observed a unit on the 14th floor engulfed in flames and heard shouts for help and pounding on doors from within the residence, according to reports from Yahoo Singapore and AsiaOne.

SCDF Rescues Residents from Kovan Regency Blaze

Firefighters immediately entered the smoke-filled unit, which was a two-storey residence, and began a search for occupants. Their swift actions led to the rescue of six individuals. Four people were rescued from the first level of the unit, and two others were brought to safety from the second level, as detailed by the SCDF in a Facebook post.

Of the six individuals rescued, three required immediate medical attention. They were assessed for smoke inhalation, and one of them also sustained burn injuries. All three were subsequently conveyed to Singapore General Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. The remaining three rescued persons were assessed at the scene and did not require ambulance assistance.

Extensive Damage and Community Evacuation at Kovan Regency

The fire primarily involved the kitchen and living room areas on the first level of the affected unit. The rest of the condominium unit sustained significant heat and smoke damage, indicating the intensity of the blaze. Before the arrival of the SCDF, approximately 100 residents from the affected block had already self-evacuated, highlighting the community’s quick response to the emergency.

The cause of the fire at Kovan Regency remains under investigation by the Singapore Civil Defence Force. Authorities have not yet released further details regarding the origin of the blaze or any potential factors contributing to its rapid spread.

The incident underscores the importance of fire safety protocols and community vigilance in high-rise residential buildings, ensuring prompt action and minimizing potential harm during emergencies.
