The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) is currently battling a significant fire at a commercial cold storage facility in the Boyle Heights neighborhood. The incident, reported around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, broke out at the Lineage facility located in the 1400 block of South Los Palos Street.
According to LAFD officials, firefighters initially attempted an offensive attack but were forced to transition to a defensive posture as conditions worsened. All personnel were withdrawn from the roof and interior of the 480,000-square-foot structure after flames intensified, particularly near the building’s solar panel array. This marks the second time in less than two years that the facility has experienced a fire involving solar components, following an incident in August 2024.
Authorities have issued a shelter-in-place order for residents and businesses in the immediate vicinity due to concerns regarding potential hazardous materials. Officials are advising those nearby to keep windows and doors closed until further notice. No injuries have been reported at this time, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
