  • Liverpool faces attacking challenges due to Salah's departure and Hugo Ekitike's long-term injury.

Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen has urged his old club to pursue a transfer for West Ham United forward Jarrod Bowen. Speaking to the Liverpool Echo via Casino.org, the former England international described the potential move as a “no-risk” solution to the club’s current attacking dilemma.

Liverpool is currently navigating a significant transition in its forward line following the departure of Mohamed Salah, who left the club after nine seasons. With forward Hugo Ekitike sidelined by an Achilles injury until 2027, the offensive burden is expected to fall heavily on Alexander Isak. Owen believes that while Isak remains a pivotal figure, the team lacks depth on the right wing.

“There’s no question that we need to replace Salah on the right-hand side,” Owen stated. He proposed that Bowen, who currently plays for West Ham, would be an ideal candidate given his proven experience in the Premier League. Owen even floated the possibility of a loan deal, suggesting that such a move would provide Liverpool with the necessary time to secure a long-term replacement while ensuring immediate quality on the pitch.

Owen emphasized that Liverpool is “desperate” for reinforcements in that specific position, arguing that Bowen’s established track record minimizes the risks typically associated with new signings. While acknowledging the potential sensitivity for West Ham supporters, Owen maintained that a player of Bowen’s caliber should be competing at the top level of English football.
