Armenian Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport, Zhanna Andreasyan, met with museum directors to discuss plans for 2025 and the future direction of museum activities. During the meeting, the Minister emphasized the importance of museums’ active participation in cultural life and the development of engaging programs and initiatives for visitors.
The Minister noted that 2024 was a significant year for the museum sector, highlighting the creation of the “Cultural Development” Foundation, the adoption of the “Law on Museums,” and the implementation of a unified electronic ticketing system. These initiatives contribute to regulating museum operations, ensuring quality improvements for visitors, and increasing accountability.
Regarding the 2025 plans, Zhanna Andreasyan stressed the importance of museums offering diverse programs, educational and cultural projects, and services. She noted that each museum has its own unique characteristics, through which target audiences are formed and visits are ensured. The Minister called on museums to actively develop initiatives and utilize successful examples from international and Armenian museums.
During the meeting, discussions also covered the need for capital renovations of museums, the acquisition of property and equipment, the activation of scientific work in museums, the development of international cooperation, the protection of copyright, the expansion of public-private partnerships, promotion, the activation of educational and cultural programs, the improvement of subscription programs, and a number of other issues related to the sector. The Minister emphasized that the state treats this process with great responsibility and invited museums to submit proposals.
This meeting is an important step in the development of the museum sector. The issues discussed and the Minister’s proposals contribute to the activation of museum activities, raising their role and importance in the cultural life of society. It is expected that these initiatives will lead to improvements in the quality of museum services, an increase in the number of visitors, and the expansion of international museum cooperation.
