MACAO – The five-day NBA Cares x Sands Cares Community Impact Week 2026 officially concluded on October 11, wrapping up a series of outreach programs alongside the final day of The NBA China Games 2026. Co-organised by Sands China and NBA Cares, the closing event took the form of a Community Basketball Carnival at NBA HOUSE, located within Halls A and B of the Cotai Expo at The Venetian Macao.

Star-Studded Finale and Community Integration

The concluding carnival brought together approximately 200 participants, featuring prominent sports figures including Basketball Hall of Fame inductee and two-time NBA champion Chris Bosh, Sands Global Ambassador Sir David Beckham, China women’s national basketball team player Zhang Ziyu, and Olympic short track speed skating gold medalist Wang Meng. They were joined by members of the Macau Special Olympics (MSO), local social service families, and corporate volunteers known as Sands Cares Ambassadors.

The day’s events commenced with a specialized basketball clinic led by an NBA coach who provided personalized instruction and skills training to MSO members. The athletic figures on-site engaged directly with participants, fostering an inclusive environment aimed at building self-confidence and breaking down social barriers through sports.

Broader Impact and Institutional Objectives

Spanning from October 7 to 11, the multi-day initiative incorporated various community outreach efforts, including Greater Bay Area youth exchanges, school visits, and structured community engagement activities. Patrick Dumont, chairman and chief executive officer of Las Vegas Sands Corp. and chairman of Sands China Ltd., emphasized that world-class sporting events must extend their benefits beyond the arena.

“These initiatives enabled more Macao residents to experience the enthusiasm of basketball and the positive values it inspires,” Dumont stated, pointing to the role of major events in supporting the Macao SAR Government’s policy direction for economic diversification and enhanced sports-tourism synergy.

Local Partnerships and Ongoing Support

Throughout the week, Sands Cares Ambassadors accompanied families from prominent regional social service organisations—including the Macau Tung Sin Tong Charitable Society, the Macao Federation of Trade Unions, the General Union of Neighbourhood Associations of Macau, and The Women’s General Association of Macau—to explore interactive attractions at NBA HOUSE. Attendees received goodie bags assembled by NBA players, corporate executives, and volunteers.

The initiative forms part of Sands Cares, the broader global corporate citizenship programme of Las Vegas Sands Corp., which has maintained active local community engagement in Macao for over two decades across four core pillars: financial giving, collaboration, in-kind donations, and team member volunteerism.
