Minnesota Lynx rookie point guard Olivia Miles has quickly established herself as the front-runner for the WNBA Rookie of the Year award. Two months into the 2026 season, Miles leads the league-leading Lynx in scoring with 18.5 points per game and assists with 5.7 per game.

According to ESPN, Miles is the ninth rookie in league history to be named an All-Star starter. Her transition to the professional game has drawn praise from veterans and coaches alike, including Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve, who noted the guard’s maturity and court vision. Despite being the No. 2 overall draft pick, Miles has outperformed expectations, demonstrating a rare ability to both distribute the ball and score with high efficiency, currently shooting 51% from the field.

Miles is currently recovering from a calf injury that kept her sidelined for the previous two games. Her status for Saturday’s marquee matchup against the New York Liberty remains a key point of interest as the Lynx look to maintain their 16-6 record. If she continues her current pace, Miles could become the first rookie guard in WNBA history to average at least 15 points while shooting 50% or better for a full season.
