An office building in Glen Burnie, Maryland, was evacuated Thursday afternoon following concerns over structural stability in its underground parking garage. The Anne Arundel County Fire Department responded to the 7300 block of Ritchie Highway at approximately 2:30 p.m. on July 9 after initial reports suggested a partial building collapse.
Authorities later clarified that the 10-story structure did not collapse. Fire Captain Jenny Macallair confirmed that all occupants were safely evacuated, and no injuries have been reported. The incident occurred while maintenance work was being conducted within the parking facility, prompting a shift in one of the floors.
Emergency crews remain on the scene to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the building’s structural integrity. The fire department has requested that the public avoid the area near Ritchie Highway while the evaluation process continues.
