The Washington Commanders have reached an agreement with veteran cornerback Rasul Douglas on a one-year contract worth up to $3.8 million, according to reports from The Associated Press and ESPN. The move marks another step in general manager Adam Peters’ aggressive strategy to overhaul a defensive unit that finished at the bottom of the league last season.
Douglas, 30, is expected to provide immediate stability to the Commanders’ secondary. He joins a revamped defensive roster that includes recent acquisitions such as safety Nick Cross and cornerback Amik Robertson, as well as high-profile draft pick Sonny Styles. Douglas brings significant experience to Washington, having appeared in 146 career games across stints with the Philadelphia Eagles, Buffalo Bills, Green Bay Packers, Carolina Panthers, and most recently, the Miami Dolphins.
During the 2025 season with Miami, Douglas started 13 games, recording two interceptions and 13 passes defensed. His performance late in the season—highlighted by being named AFC Defensive Player of the Week in December—underscored his ability to anchor a secondary under pressure. Throughout his nine-year career, Douglas has accumulated 21 interceptions and 92 passes defensed, establishing himself as a reliable veteran presence in the NFC East.
