The child, who had been receiving intensive care at Bristol Children’s Hospital, succumbed to his injuries four days after the incident occurred on Friday, May 29. Police Investigation and Witness Appeals
The incident involved a single vehicle carrying four occupants, including two children and two women. While a woman in her 40s was treated and subsequently discharged from Derriford Hospital in Plymouth, a woman in her 70s remains hospitalized with serious injuries. A local man in his 60s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He was treated for minor injuries and has since been released under investigation as the Serious Collisions Investigation Team continues to gather evidence.
Detective Inspector Andy Heath of the Devon and Cornwall Police has emphasized the gravity of the ongoing investigation, stating, “I am saddened to confirm that a second boy has passed away following Friday’s collision.
