A 72-year-old driver was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital with chest injuries, while his 76-year-old front-seat passenger was admitted to the same facility with suspected spinal injuries. A third passenger, an 88-year-old woman, was transported to Royal North Shore Hospital, also suffering from chest injuries. The Transport Management Centre (TMC) reported heavy congestion stretching back to the Anzac Bridge, with significant delays also observed on the Cahill Expressway over Circular Quay and through the Domain Tunnel. Public transit was also impacted, with bus services exiting the city experiencing delays of up to 20 minutes.
Authorities advised motorists to avoid the area while emergency crews managed the scene. Traffic was diverted via the Sydney Harbour Tunnel to mitigate the bottleneck.
