Leeds United attacking midfielder Harry Wilson has returned to the Wales squad after an injury layoff, head coach Craig Bellamy announced in a squad reveal published by BBC Sport on 4 November 2026. Wilson has not featured for his national side since March due to injury concerns, but his comeback provides a timely boost as Wales prepare for their crucial concluding UEFA Nations League Group A4 fixtures against Norway and Portugal.
Alongside Wilson’s return, the squad features a maiden senior international call-up for 20-year-old goalkeeper Joe Duncan. Duncan, who currently plays on loan at National League side Southend United from Championship club Bristol City, replaces Everton back-up Tom King in Bellamy’s setup. Bellamy noted that the decision is part of an effort to refresh the goalkeeping department.
Squad Inclusions and Fitness Checks
Wilson is not the only Leeds player making a welcome return to the national setup. Centre-back Joe Rodon has also been recalled by Bellamy despite not playing competitively since suffering a hamstring injury in August. Head coach Craig Bellamy emphasized the importance of their presence as the squad awaits final club fitness checks ahead of the international reporting date on Sunday.
“We’ve clearly seen in my time here the influence Harry’s had,” Bellamy said, as reported by BBC Sport. “He’s had a big influence on the team. He’s been outstanding for us. Joe’s been immense, so it’s great having him. Players have to come through [for their clubs] this week so, fingers crossed when we report Sunday, we have these players available because they’re really important for us.”
In addition to the returns, Cardiff City playmaker Rubin Colwill has been recalled to the squad. However, the selection was tempered by the absence of midfielder Jordan James, who sustained an injury playing for Wolverhampton Wanderers against Cardiff City.
Nations League Group Standing and Fixtures
Wales currently sit third in Group A4 of the Nations League. Their sole victory in four matches so far came against World Cup quarter-finalists Norway in Cardiff last month. With two games remaining, Bellamy’s side can mathematically finish in second, third, or fourth place.
Securing a top-two finish would advance Wales to the Nations League quarter-finals scheduled for March 2027. Conversely, finishing third would force the team into a relegation play-off against a League B opponent in March, while ending the group at the bottom risks direct relegation depending on overall rankings across League A groups.
Wales will travel to face Norway at the Ullevaal Stadion in Oslo on Saturday, 14 November 2026, before concluding their group campaign at home against Portugal at the Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday, 17 November 2026.
