We Energies identified the cause as rain-damaged equipment located near the Concord Generating Station, situated just outside the city limits between Concord Avenue and the Rock River. While the utility has not yet disclosed the specific nature of the hardware failure, the outage has prompted immediate attention from regional grid monitoring services.

Third-party tracking service PowerOutage.us, which utilizes independent data aggregation to monitor grid status, reported a higher impact figure of 3,952 affected customers in the immediate vicinity. This discrepancy often occurs due to differences in how utilities and third-party monitors define specific service area boundaries.

The utility provided an estimated restoration time of 11:30 a.m. Sunday for affected residents and businesses.
