Xbox Game Pass subscribers have less than two weeks to finish or purchase nine titles scheduled to leave the subscription catalog on October 15. According to the International Business Times, Microsoft’s mid-month roster cut removes several major releases, including the award-winning turn-based RPG Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, A Plague Tale: Requiem, and survival driving game Pacific Drive.
Departing Titles and the October 15 Deadline
Other departing software includes Evil West, The Casting of Frank Stone, Crime Scene Cleaner, Donut County, and Nova Roma, which remains in Game Pass Preview. A separate free-to-play title, Superball, is also exiting, though only its associated member benefits are being removed rather than the base game itself. To help players keep their progress, Microsoft is offering a member discount of up to 20 percent on outright purchases for the affected games before they exit the library.
Weighing the Playtime Requirements
The impending removal forces subscribers to weigh time commitments against completion goals. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 presents the steepest challenge; a main-story run takes under 30 hours, while a completionist playthrough can exceed 60 hours. The title earned critical acclaim, including a 92 OpenCritic average and multiple accolades at the BAFTA Games Awards.
For players seeking more manageable time investments before the October 15 cutoff, A Plague Tale: Requiem requires roughly 17 hours, and Pacific Drive takes about 21 hours. Subscribers who cannot finish their campaigns before the deadline can utilize the 20 percent store discount to purchase the games and retain their save data.
Broader Subscription Overhauls and Cloud Caps
The catalog shrinkage coincides with broader structural adjustments to Microsoft’s gaming ecosystem. Polygon reports that starting in November, Xbox will implement monthly time limits on cloud gaming across various subscription tiers to manage rising infrastructure costs and larger player bases.
Under the upcoming policy, Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will receive 15 hours of cloud playtime per month, while Premium and Essential tiers will be capped at 10 hours and 5 hours, respectively. While Xbox projects that the changes will directly impact only a small fraction of users, players exceeding their monthly caps will need to purchase additional cloud hours separately on the Xbox Store.
