Quick Read

  • Microsoft rolled out the Xbox Disc-to-Digital program to all users.
  • The feature currently supports more than 1,500 physical game titles.
  • Forza Horizon and Forza Motorsport games are excluded due to licensing limits.
Microsoft has officially expanded its Xbox Disc-to-Digital program to all users following a wider rollout, providing a convenient bridge for players transitioning physical media into digital library licenses. According to Pure Xbox, the feature currently supports over 1,500 physical games, allowing owners of supported discs to register and access digital copies on their consoles.

While the broad compatibility has drawn positive early engagement from the gaming community, notable exceptions remain across major franchises. Most prominently, physical editions of the Forza Horizon and Forza Motorsport series are currently unsupported, leaving players unable to convert their discs into digital equivalents.

Licensing Hurdles and Future Library Additions

The absence of Forza titles in the Disc-to-Digital program is widely attributed to strict automotive and music licensing agreements. Because these racing games typically face delisting from digital storefronts after several years when contracts expire, converting physical media presents complex legal hurdles. Even newly released entries such as Forza Horizon 6 currently lack eligibility under the program’s existing terms and conditions.

Despite these limitations for racing fans, Microsoft has indicated that additional titles may be integrated into the Disc-to-Digital ecosystem over time, though no official timeline has been confirmed for legacy additions.
