Bolton Wanderers have officially confirmed the signing of defender Akin Famewo from Hull City for an undisclosed fee. The 27-year-old has signed a three-year contract at the Toughsheet Community Stadium, becoming the club’s third major acquisition of the summer transfer window.

Famewo joins Bolton as the club prepares for life in the Championship following their promotion from League One. The defender played a role in Hull City’s successful promotion campaign to the Premier League last season, making 15 league appearances for the Tigers. His arrival is expected to provide essential experience and defensive stability to manager Steven Schumacher’s squad.
“I met with the manager and everyone in charge here and speaking about aspirations and what we want to achieve here it was really exciting times,” Famewo stated in an interview with the club’s official media. “Because they believe in me, and the fact that they said that they’re really fond of me and how I play and want me to be more involved than I was last year, that’s something I can never say no to.”

The addition of Famewo follows the earlier signings of defender Ben Davies and midfielder David Watson. Bolton’s management is actively looking to balance their young squad with proven Championship experience as they look to establish themselves in the second tier.
