A fast-moving brush fire ignited on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, scorching approximately 75 acres within the first hour. According to Oceanside police, the fire was reported around 10:30 a.m. in the base’s November Training Area, located near the Wire Mountain Housing complex.
In response to the growing threat, authorities issued evacuation warnings for the Oceanside Municipal Golf Course and surrounding residential areas. Residents have been advised to remain prepared to evacuate immediately if conditions worsen. An official evacuation point has been established at El Camino High School, located at 400 Rancho Del Oro.
While no evacuation orders have been issued for base housing, military and civilian emergency services are working in close coordination to contain the blaze. The San Diego County Air Pollution Control District has issued a formal smoke advisory for Camp Pendleton, Oceanside, Bonsall, and Fallbrook, urging residents to limit outdoor exposure as plumes of smoke remain visible across the region.
