Quick Read

  • Costco warehouses will be closed nationwide on July 4, 2026.
  • The closure is in observance of the 250th Independence Day anniversary.
  • Unlike Costco, retailers like Walmart and Target plan to maintain standard hours.

Costco Wholesale has officially confirmed that all of its warehouse locations across the United States will be closed on Saturday, July 4, 2026. The company is observing the federal Independence Day holiday, which marks the nation’s 250th anniversary this year.

A spokesperson for the retail chain confirmed the closure to CBS News, advising shoppers to plan their holiday supply runs accordingly. While many major retailers, including Walmart and Target, intend to remain open during their standard operating hours throughout the July 4th weekend, Costco maintains a policy of closing its doors on major federal holidays to allow employees time off.

Consumers are encouraged to complete any necessary holiday shopping before the Saturday closure. While other businesses such as grocery stores and pharmacies may operate with modified schedules, Costco warehouses will not offer any services or access to members during the holiday.
