President and Chief Executive Officer Greg Ebel emphasized that the global focus on energy security, reliability, and affordability continues to highlight the value of the company’s diversified asset base. According to figures reported in an update published by AOL, third-quarter adjusted earnings reached $1.1 billion, or $0.49 per common share, compared with $1.0 billion, or $0.46 per common share, in the same period of 2025. Meanwhile, adjusted earnings before interest, income taxes, depreciation, and amortization stood at $4.4 billion, rising slightly from $4.3 billion a year earlier. Distributable cash flow remained strong at $2.7 billion, and the firm reaffirmed its full-year 2026 financial guidance and medium-term outlook.

Multi-Billion-Dollar Acquisitions and Liquids Pipeline Growth

To bolster its North American footprint, Enbridge initiated several major transactions during the quarter. The company announced a US$2.6 billion agreement to acquire Tallgrass Energy LP’s crude oil business, a deal that introduces a competitive Rockies-to-Cushing corridor spanning the Bakken, Powder River, and Denver-Julesburg basins, alongside the US$0.3 billion Pony Express 2 growth project. Concurrently, Enbridge closed the US$0.6 billion acquisition of Salt Creek Midstream’s crude oil gathering assets, embedding its operations deeper into the Delaware basin.

Management noted that combining these gathering operations with transportation on the Gray Oak Pipeline and export capabilities at the Enbridge Ingleside Energy Center establishes an integrated wellhead-to-water export platform. To partially finance these acquisitions and preserve balance-sheet flexibility, Enbridge completed a $3.0 billion common equity offering. Furthermore, the company sanctioned the $0.2 billion Long Lake Expansion in its Alberta Regional Oil Sands business, scheduled to enter service in 2028 to support CNOOC Petroleum North America’s operations.

Gas Transmission and Storage Infrastructure Expansion

Enbridge’s Gas Transmission division advanced several critical projects to address accelerating electricity and liquefied natural gas demand across the continent. During the quarter, the company placed the Aspen Point expansion of the B.C. Pipeline and the Tennessee Ridgeline projects into commercial service, while continuing work on a $15 billion portfolio of sanctioned projects.

Among these key initiatives is the $4 billion Sunrise expansion of the B.C. Pipeline system and nearly 90 billion cubic feet of natural gas storage expansions located along the U.S. Gulf Coast and British Columbia. Additionally, within its Gas Distribution and Storage segment, Enbridge agreed to acquire Laramie Energy assets for US$0.5 billion to supply cost-of-service natural gas to Enbridge Gas Utah customers, while also filing for new utility rates in Ohio to fund system modernization and safety investments.

Secured Growth Backlog and Capital Deployment

Enbridge closed an initial $0.7 billion investment from KKR and Apollo while securing an additional $2 billion commitment to back the Aspen Point and Sunrise expansion programs on the Westcoast B.C. Pipeline system. These strategic partnerships reflect continued institutional appetite for premium midstream infrastructure.

With $3 billion of completed projects successfully placed into service during the third quarter, Enbridge’s secured growth backlog stands at $38 billion. Management stated that ongoing organic project execution keeps the firm on track to hit its target of $10 billion to $20 billion in new project announcements through 2027, balancing capital discipline with long-term shareholder returns.
