The “Energy Efficient Regions” program implemented by the Armenian Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund (AREEF) has led to a 40% reduction in energy consumption in public buildings. This was announced by Karen Asatryan, the director of the fund, during an expert consultation.

The program has been implemented since 2022 with a $1.7 million grant provided by the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development (EFSD). As part of the program, over 150 public buildings underwent initial energy audits, out of which 13 buildings were selected for energy efficiency enhancement measures.

CANDLE Institute: Installed a 150 kW solar power plant, along with thermal insulation and window replacements.
Yerevan Figure Skating School: Installed a 100 kW solar power plant, which also serves as a parking lot.
Alaverdi Medical Center: Conducted thermal insulation works.
International Cooperation
Experts and representatives from Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan participated in the program’s outcome evaluation.

The program focuses not only on energy conservation but also on sharing best practices in renewable energy development.

The “Energy Efficient Regions” program marks a significant step toward energy conservation and the development of renewable energy. It demonstrates that the integration of new technologies can effectively enhance building energy efficiency and contribute to environmental sustainability.
