Forest Green Rovers owner Dale Vince has dismissed speculation surrounding the managerial position at The New Lawn, confirming that the club has no immediate plans to replace former head coach Robbie Savage, according to the BBC. Savage departed the club to take charge of League One side Peterborough United, leaving a coaching trio of Jonathan Gould, Josh Bowen, and Yan Klukowski at the helm.

Despite widespread external speculation linking various names to the vacancy following Savage’s exit, Vince insisted that no discussions have taken place with prospective candidates. The club intends to evaluate its current operational structure over the coming weeks before making any long-term decisions regarding the dugout.

Evaluating a New Operational Structure

Speaking to BBC Radio Gloucestershire, Vince stated that Forest Green is prepared to trial operating without a traditional manager for an initial period. “At the moment, we’re going to try something new, we’re going to see how it goes and we’ll see where it goes,” Vince said, adding that the club is in no hurry to make an appointment and has not spoken to anyone about the role.

The interim coaching staff has shouldered primary responsibilities since Savage’s departure. Vince expressed confidence in their capabilities, noting that Gould, Bowen, and Klukowski handle day-to-day training and make balanced, rational decisions based on their deep familiarity with the squad.

Recent Form and League Standings

The decision to pause the search comes amid a challenging run of fixtures for Forest Green Rovers. The team recently suffered a 4-2 defeat at home against Hartlepool United, a result that dropped them to 16th place in the National League standings.

Forest Green has secured only four victories from 12 league matches this season and is currently enduring a five-match winless streak in domestic competition. The interim coaching team took charge for recent fixtures, including a 1-1 draw against Wealdstone and the subsequent home loss to Hartlepool, as club leadership weighs its next strategic steps.
