During his tenure, he made 13 appearances, recording two goals and one assist. His time in Austin was highlighted by a historic milestone: on July 4, 2026, he became the first active Austin FC player to represent the club in a FIFA World Cup match, appearing as a second-half substitute for Canada in their Round of 16 clash against Morocco.
Before his time in MLS, Nelson gained European experience through spells at Rosenborg BK in Norway and SSV Ulm 1846 in Germany. His career trajectory has been defined by his development as a Toronto FC homegrown talent, where he accumulated 81 regular-season appearances across five seasons before moving to the Western Conference.
