A High-Stakes Return to Hard Courts
Ukrainian professional tennis player Marta Kostyuk has been officially named to the direct entry list for the 2026 Mubadala DC Open. The WTA 500 event, a key fixture in the professional tour’s summer hard-court swing, is scheduled to take place in Washington, D.C., from July 27 through August 2, 2026.
According to the official entry list released by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA), Kostyuk joins a competitive roster that includes world No. 8 Elina Svitolina, Naomi Osaka, and a host of top-30 talent. The tournament serves as a critical transition for players moving from the grass-court season at Wimbledon toward the North American summer circuit.
Tournament Outlook
The Mubadala DC Open remains one of the most prestigious stops on the tour, offering significant ranking points and a 28-player singles draw. While direct entrants have been confirmed, the tournament organizers have also noted that four additional spots will be filled through a qualifying tournament, with four wild-card entries still to be determined. Notably, veteran champion Venus Williams has been confirmed to return to the event, building on her appearance last year.
The draw for the tournament is set to be revealed on July 25, just two days before the start of main-draw play. For Kostyuk, the event represents an opportunity to capitalize on her momentum following her recent appearances at Wimbledon, where she faced stiff competition in the opening rounds of the tournament.
