Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock are set to reunite on the big screen in the long-awaited sequel to the 1998 cult classic Practical Magic. As the film nears its theatrical release in September 2026, the two co-stars have been actively participating in a promotional tour, revisiting the bond that made their original portrayal of sister-witches iconic.
During recent press engagements, the pair reflected on the film’s most memorable moments, including the famous “Midnight Margaritas” scene. Kidman and Bullock shared anecdotes about their enduring friendship and even traded cocktail preferences, with Bullock noting that her friend Jennifer Aniston is known for making a particularly potent margarita.
Parenting as a Foundation
Beyond the film’s production, Kidman has used the promotional platform to speak candidly about her personal life and her approach to raising her four children. In an interview with Australia’s Daily Telegraph, the 59-year-old actress clarified that she does not view her role as being her children’s “best friend.”
“You’re a mother first,” Kidman stated. “You’re a mentor, a safe haven, the place you can always come home to. I’m not here to be your best friend; I’m here to be your rock.”
Supporting Professional Aspirations
Kidman’s parenting philosophy emphasizes providing a stable base while allowing her children the freedom to pursue their own passions. This approach is evident in her support for her 18-year-old daughter, Sunday, who has begun a professional modeling career, working with major fashion houses including Miu Miu, Calvin Klein, and Christian Dior.
Kidman revealed that her own mother played a pivotal role in shaping this mindset. Before passing away in September 2024, her mother encouraged Kidman to extend the same freedom that she had been granted at age 14 when she pursued acting. Reflecting on this legacy, Kidman noted that supporting her daughter’s desire to model is a way of honoring her mother’s influence, allowing the next generation to “follow their bliss.”
