New Reporting Raises Questions About Possible Help Disposing of Evidence in Simpson Case

An October 18 New York Times investigation has revived questions about whether Joseph “Joey” Ippolito helped dispose of evidence after the 1994 killings of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman.

What the reporting alleges

Newser’s account of the investigation describes allegations involving Ippolito, an associate of O.J. Simpson. His brother’s recollections and newly unsealed records are central to the reporting. The allegations should not be treated as a proven reconstruction of the killings or the fate of the missing weapon.

What remains established

Simpson was acquitted in the 1995 criminal trial and subsequently found liable in the civil case. Both Simpson and Ippolito are deceased. The Times investigation is a new journalistic examination; it does not itself establish a new court finding.
