Nearly 3,000 residents in south Barrie experienced a temporary power outage on Wednesday afternoon, according to Alectra Utilities. The disruption was attributed to an equipment failure in the local distribution network.
The outage began at 12:37 p.m., affecting approximately 3,010 customers. Utility crews responded immediately, and within less than 30 minutes, service was restored to the vast majority of the affected area. By 1 p.m., only 27 customers remained without power.
The impacted area spanned from south of Tiffin Street to Lockhart Road, extending west to the intersection of Mapleview Drive and Essa Road, and east to Huronia Road. Alectra Utilities indicated that crews were working to resolve the final localized issues, with full restoration for the remaining 27 customers expected between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
