NASHVILLE (Azat TV) — Seattle Seahawks rookie linebacker Bud Clark is set to miss several months after suffering a broken right ankle during Sunday’s preseason game against the Tennessee Titans, head coach Mike Macdonald confirmed. The injury occurred on Seattle’s very first defensive play of the game. Medical trainers placed Clark’s leg in an air cast before he was carted off the field, drawing supportive gestures from players on both teams. Clark was selected by the Seahawks in the second round (64th overall) of the recent draft out of Texas Christian University (TCU).
The defensive setback was compounded by another major injury on the offensive side of the ball. Offensive lineman Mason Richman suffered what Macdonald described as a “long-term, major injury” during the opening drive of the matchup. Richman was assisted to the sideline after medical staff examined his right leg on the turf. While the specific diagnosis is still being finalized, the head coach indicated that the injury will sideline the lineman for a significant period.
“Two guys that we love, that play our style of ball, that are our type of guys,” Macdonald said following the game. “Teammates love ’em, great teammates, great guys, great football players. They have great futures. It’s a heartbreaker, honestly. We’ve had three heartbreakers this week, which is tough.”
The third blow referenced by Macdonald occurred during Friday’s joint practice sessions with the Titans. Wide receiver Jake Bobo was carted off the field and subsequently placed on injured reserve on Saturday, marking a highly damaging week for the Seahawks’ roster depth ahead of the regular season.
Teammates expressed their distress over the sudden injuries, particularly Clark’s early exit. Linebacker Connor O’Toole noted that seeing a teammate go down so early in a game “almost takes the life out of” the contest. “Just to know what he’s going to go through and the pain that he’s in, it’s just bigger than football at that point,” O’Toole remarked, adding that the team is focusing on supporting their injured rookie.
With the regular season approaching, the Seahawks coaching staff must now address significant depth challenges at linebacker, offensive line, and wide receiver due to the sudden loss of these three key contributors.
