Police in Prince William County, Virginia, have arrested 45-year-old Matthew Bailey Thompson of Manassas on charges of trespassing and impersonating a police officer. The arrest follows an incident on Wednesday evening at the central police station located on Davis Ford Road in Woodbridge.

According to the Prince William County Police Department, Thompson approached the gate of a secure staff parking lot at approximately 7 p.m. Wednesday. He allegedly attempted to gain entry by informing personnel at the gate that he was also a police officer. After being denied access to the restricted area, Thompson reportedly departed the scene.

Authorities took Thompson into custody on Thursday. He is currently being held without bond pending a scheduled court appearance. This incident marks the second time in recent months that authorities in Woodbridge have addressed allegations of police impersonation; a different individual was charged in July after allegedly impersonating an officer and brandishing a firearm in public.
