Bending Spoons announced on Tuesday that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire database and spreadsheet startup Airtable for $1.28 billion in cash. This transaction represents the first acquisition for Bending Spoons since the company completed its initial public offering last month at a valuation of $18 billion.

Airtable, which was founded in 2013 and raised over $1.4 billion in venture capital, saw its valuation fluctuate significantly in recent years. While the company reached an $11 billion valuation during the 2021 market peak, secondary market trading earlier this year suggested a valuation closer to $4 billion. Bending Spoons noted that based on Airtable’s current net cash and cash equivalents, the effective valuation for the acquisition stands at approximately $2.25 billion.

Luca Ferrari, founder of Bending Spoons, stated that the acquisition aims to accelerate innovation for Airtable’s existing user base. As of June 2026, Airtable reported annual recurring revenue of approximately $480 million, reflecting a year-over-year growth rate of over 20%. The platform currently serves more than 500,000 organizations, including 80% of the Fortune 100.

Airtable recently expanded its capabilities in January with the launch of “Superagent,” an orchestration platform designed to deploy AI agents for task automation. Bending Spoons has established a reputation for acquiring established digital brands—including Evernote, WeTransfer, EventBrite, and Vimeo—with a strategy focused on streamlining product operations and achieving profitability.
