Houthi fighters launched a broad military offensive on Thursday across front lines in Yemen’s southwest, specifically targeting the vital road connecting Taiz city to the port of al-Makha (Mocha). Casualties and Military Response

An unnamed military source told AFP that at least 13 government soldiers, including two officers, were killed during the defensive operations. Conversely, the Yemen Army Media Centre reported that more than 18 Houthi fighters were killed, with others captured or wounded, as government forces moved to repel the infiltration attempts.
The conflict has expanded beyond ground skirmishes. The Yemeni government reported that the Houthis utilized 14 ballistic missiles and multiple drones against populated areas in Taiz and Hodeidah. In response, government forces reported shooting down three Houthi drones in the Jabal Habashi district. Furthermore, an officer in al-Makha stated that his forces successfully thwarted an attack involving two booby-trapped boats targeting the port infrastructure.
