New Balance and Miu Miu have expanded their ongoing footwear partnership by debuting a new sneaker model on the runway at Paris Fashion Week. According to WWD, the brands introduced the New Balance RC150, a lightweight 1990s racing shoe, during a sports-themed show at the Palais D’Iéna in Paris on Sunday. Model Gigi Hadid and actor Jamie Bell were among those who walked the runway wearing the newly designed footwear, which is built around a slim silhouette and technical mesh materials.

Design Features and Runway Presentation

The RC150 model derives its name from its ultra-lightweight 150-gram build. The runway presentation featured deconstructed technical mesh uppers paired with contrast laces loosely knotted at the toe through external hoops, creating a distinct double-lacing aesthetic. The athletic-inspired presentation transformed the Palais D’Iéna set into an arena complete with a purple track-inspired floor and bleacher seating. Miuccia Prada styled the footwear alongside high-fashion interpretations of everyday athletic apparel, including a backwards-worn sports bra and an embellished skirt.

Partnership History and Market Strategy

The latest collaboration builds on a series of commercial successes between New Balance and Miu Miu. Last year, the two brands received the FN Collaboration of the Year Award, highlighting their influence in bridging athletic functionality with luxury fashion. Recent releases have included new iterations of the popular 530 SL model, such as a ballet-flat-inspired variant introduced last month and a multi-style drop featuring technical fabrics, suede overlays, and perforated leather in June, fronted by tennis star Coco Gauff.

Executives from both companies have pointed to a shared brand vision focused on long-term appeal and female consumer engagement. Chris Davis, New Balance global brand president and chief marketing officer, noted in remarks surrounding the brands’ 2025 award that Miu. Miu balances traditional Italian craftsmanship with forward-looking trend forecasting. Lorenzo Bertelli, Prada Group’s chief marketing officer and head of corporate social responsibility, emphasized New Balance’s century-long independence, stating that it allows both companies to prioritize product integrity and long-term strategic alignment over short-term commercial objectives.
