Outbreak Investigation
European health authorities have confirmed a large-scale outbreak of Salmonella Stanley linked to flavoured instant noodles produced by Euro Food Service for the brand Reeva. Between November 2025 and June 2026, 106 cases of infection were reported across 14 countries, including the United Kingdom and 13 EU member states such as Germany, France, and Lithuania.
Microbiological evidence has identified the outbreak strain in chicken and hot-chicken flavoured noodle products. According to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), the infection primarily affects children and young adults. At least 49 individuals have required hospitalization due to the severity of their symptoms, which include persistent fever, severe vomiting, and dehydration.
Manufacturer Response and Regulatory Action
Reeva has initiated an internal probe and has begun withdrawing the affected batches from supply chains across the impacted markets. In a formal statement, the company confirmed it is cooperating fully with regulatory bodies to conduct environmental monitoring and independent laboratory audits at its production facilities.
“The safety of our consumers is our top priority,” a company spokesperson stated. Health officials continue to monitor supply chains, noting that while most patients recover within a week, the infection remains particularly dangerous for the elderly and those with compromised immune systems. Authorities in Germany and Lithuania, where the strain was first detected in product samples, are leading the diagnostic effort as investigations into the source of contamination continue.
