The TUMO Center for Creative Technologies continues its expansion in Germany, broadening access to its innovative educational model in technology and design for a growing number of teenagers. With the support of Germany’s state-owned investment and development bank, KfW, and other national and local organizations, TUMO Hirschaid has officially opened its doors, joining the established centers in Berlin and Mannheim. Further expansion is planned with upcoming centers in Lüdenscheid, Saarbrücken, and Essen.
TUMO Hirschaid officially opened on January 31st. The center has the capacity to host 500 students weekly, with 200 already enrolled from the first day, participating in programs spanning programming, animation, drawing, robotics, 3D modeling, game development, photography, and filmmaking. Funded by Germany’s Federal Ministry of Education and Research and KfW Bank, and located within the MINT-Zentrum Hirschaid, the center embodies TUMO’s signature design aesthetic, featuring inflatable seating and ceilings designed by renowned Austrian architect Thomas Herzig.
TUMO’s presence in Germany began with TUMO Berlin, which opened in October 2020. It has since become one of TUMO’s largest international centers, serving over 1,000 students weekly who explore ten innovative learning areas. Located in Berlin’s historic Charlottenburg district, the 2,000-square-meter facility, also funded by KfW Bank, provides a dynamic learning environment that fosters innovation and creativity. TUMO Berlin has cultivated a thriving community of talented students and alumni, forming a network of young, competitive professionals.
TUMO Mannheim, which opened in March 2024, welcomes 1,000 students weekly, offering eight learning areas: programming, music, robotics, 3D modeling, filmmaking, game development, graphic design, and photography. 1 A key feature of this center is its state-of-the-art music and recording studio, reflecting the city’s rich musical heritage. TUMO Mannheim’s establishment was made possible through the support of key partners including the Dietmar Hopp Foundation, the City of Mannheim, Starkmacher, KfW Bank, and Next Mannheim.
TUMO’s expansion in Germany is accelerating, with three more centers slated to open soon in Lüdenscheid, Saarbrücken, and Essen. This growth underscores TUMO’s commitment to providing transformative learning experiences for teenagers and solidifies the program’s reputation, originating in Armenia, on the international education stage. TUMO is a free after-school educational program that empowers teenagers to take ownership of their learning, exploring the intersection of technology and design through hands-on activities. Founded in Armenia and expanding globally, TUMO’s educational model combines self-learning with practical workshops, preparing teenagers for the challenges of a rapidly evolving world.
