The network issued a statement confirming that it was no longer tenable for Stefanovic to maintain his role as the face of the Today show while simultaneously producing an independent podcast. Nine explicitly distanced itself from the production, noting it had “no involvement, including in the guest selection and other editorial processes” of the show.

The primary catalyst for the accelerated exit was Stefanovic’s decision to feature far-right figure Tommy Robinson on his independent program, The Karl Stefanovic Show.
