Wrestling icon Rey Mysterio has offered clarity on his future in the ring, stating that he has no set timeline for retirement. In a recent interview reported by Fightful, the veteran performer explained that he is “just going to wing it” as he balances a multifaceted professional schedule.
Balancing Roles in WWE and AAA
Mysterio currently maintains a unique dual-promotion status. He continues to compete in the ring for WWE on RAW while simultaneously serving as the general manager for the Mexican promotion AAA. This hybrid schedule, which contrasts with the grueling four-to-five-day-a-week travel demands of his earlier career, has provided him with a renewed sense of enjoyment.
“I think I’m loving the process right now of enjoying the moments as they come,” Mysterio said. “Before, it was maybe a little bit more stressful because you were working constantly. But now, with the GM role in AAA and then wrestling on RAW, I kind of vibe that program. I don’t mind it at all. I’m still on both sides of the spectrum and I’m learning as I’m growing still.”
Public Appearances and Physical Toll
Despite his positive outlook on his workload, the physical demands of the sport remain a reality. Mysterio was recently spotted at the Zuffa Boxing event on September 12, 2026, where he accompanied boxer Ryan Garcia to the ring, as reported by Fightful. During the appearance, Mysterio was seen wearing a neck brace, which he attributed to his recent participation in AAA Triplemania, where he competed in a match against Omos. These instances highlight the ongoing physical stakes for the veteran performer as he navigates his remaining time in the industry.
Looking Ahead
Mysterio’s commitment to the industry remains high, and he continues to prioritize the quality of his current experiences over a forced exit. By managing his own schedule and shifting between on-screen talent and administrative roles, he has found a sustainable path forward. For fans and industry observers, the focus remains on his continued contributions to the ring and the management of his legacy as he decides when the time is right to step away.
