Innovative Design and Enhanced Features: Key Highlights of Oppo Find N5

Chinese smartphone maker Oppo has launched its new flagship foldable phone, the Find N5, boasting a slimmer profile and artificial intelligence-driven features. This move is a direct challenge to market leaders Samsung and Huawei in the high-end foldable device segment. With a starting price of approximately $1,870 USD, the Find N5 aims to capture consumer attention by offering innovative design and technological advancements.

Slimmer Design and Compactness: Find N5’s Edge Over Competitors

In its folded state, the Find N5 resembles a conventional bar-shaped smartphone with a 6.62-inch display. However, upon unfolding, the device transforms into a larger 8.12-inch tablet. A standout feature is the phone’s ultra-thin design. When closed, it measures just 8.93 millimeters thick, and when opened as a tablet, its depth is a mere 4.21 millimeters. This is notably slimmer than Samsung’s Galaxy Fold 6, released by the South Korean tech giant the previous year.

Powering the device is a razor-thin 5,600 mAh battery, no larger than a credit card. Oppo highlights the use of a silicon-carbon material in the battery, enabling high capacity despite its compact size.

Artificial Intelligence Integration: Smart Features in Find N5

Mirroring the trend among smartphone manufacturers, Oppo is significantly investing in artificial intelligence features for the Find N5. The device features a triple-camera system, including a telephoto lens with up to 30x zoom, enhanced by an AI-powered image enhancement feature called AI Telescope Zoom.

Furthermore, the Find N5 incorporates a personal AI assistant capable of interpreting and summarizing documents, generating call summaries, and translating video calls and on-screen content. Addressing privacy concerns, Oppo clarifies that while some data processing occurs directly on the device, other information is stored in the cloud, with Google serving as Oppo’s AI and cloud computing technology partner in international markets.

Mac Connectivity: New Possibilities with O+ Connect

Oppo also introduced a novel feature allowing users to seamlessly connect their phone to a Mac computer. Using the O+ Connect app, Find N5 users can link to any Mac desktop and instantly transfer photos and files, provided both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network. Users can also remotely control a Mac from the Find N5, with the Mac’s display appearing on the phone’s screen. This remote control function requires only mobile internet or Wi-Fi to synchronize data between the Mac and Find N5 in real-time.

Market Outlook and Competition: Oppo’s Position in the Foldable Smartphone Arena

Market analysts note that the Find N5 exemplifies the engineering possibilities of flexible display technology. While Huawei’s tri-fold Mate XT garnered attention, the “book-like” form factor, already popularized by Samsung, Honor, Google, and now Oppo, is considered the more commercially viable design. Samsung itself teased a tri-fold smartphone prototype at its January Unpacked event for the Galaxy S25 launch, but its commercial future remains uncertain.
