Wyatt, a former 2022 first-round pick out of Georgia, was entering the final year of his rookie contract, having already had his fifth-year option picked up by the team. The new agreement places him among the top-20 highest-paid players at his position, reflecting his status as a key pass-rushing asset. Over the last three seasons, Wyatt has accumulated 102 pressures, maintaining a 12.1 percent pressure rate that ranks among the top defensive linemen in the league.
The extension comes despite a significant injury challenge for the 28-year-old. Wyatt’s 2025 campaign was cut short after 10 games following a fractured fibula and multiple torn ankle ligaments suffered during a Thanksgiving game against the Detroit Lions. Despite missing the remainder of the season, the Packers have signaled confidence in his recovery and long-term utility.
The team’s investment underscores a broader strategy to retain core talent from the 2022 draft class. Wyatt joins wide receivers Jayden Reed and Christian Watson, as well as tackle Zach Tom and center Sean Rhyan, as part of a group of foundational players locked into second contracts.
